Glass

Glass from your glass bin and the recycling sites at Craignure, Baliscate, Glengorm and Fionnphort is gathered at the Glengorm Civic Amenities site.  It’s then sent to a state of the art processing plant in Helensburgh.

The amount of energy needed to melt recycled glass is considerably less than that needed to melt raw materials to make new bottles and jars.  Recycling one bottle can save enough energy to power a television for one and a half hours.  Source: www.berrymanglassrecycling.com

Glass can be recycled endlessly with no loss in quality or purity.  Therefore by simply recycling our glass we can:

  • conserve non-renewable fossil fuels.
  • reduce the emission of harmful gasses into the atmosphere.
