Mull and Iona is one of the finest locations to come and enjoy wonderful scenery, bountiful wildlife and the freedom to roam and still feel that you have the place to yourself and that these experiences are a personal show for you alone!
Whatever outdoor pursuit you partake in, Mull and Iona are the places to do it. Whether it is walking, cycling, fishing, bird-watching, wildlife watching and photography, these islands offer the ideal location. You may wish to follow your hobby yourself but there are many sea based and land based tour operators who will guide you around the island and give you a real taste of Mull.
To help you enjoy Mull and Iona to a maximum the Ranger Service has been involved in the production of several leaflets which can be picked up from Tourist Information Centres or requested from the Ranger Service.

‘Outdoors on Mull and Iona’ leaflet was produced in partnership with Mull Deer Management Group. It is an all you need to know guide to making the most of being out and about on Mull.
Argyll and Bute Local Access Forum
Mull and Iona Service is represented on the Local Access Forum and we are often the first point of contact for access users and land managers if help is need or if there is a problem. We regularly assist the Council’s Access Department in providing up to up date information on access on Mull and Iona and have been thoroughly involved in the Core Path Plan for the island.

Recreational Site Management
The Ranger Service is responsible for the day to day management of all the Forestry Commission Recreational sites on Mull. This involves making sure they are all presented to the public to the highest possible standard, that they are safe, that they are well sign posted and that they are clean and tidy.
In addition to Forestry Commission Recreation sites the Ranger Service maintains and manages 10 viewpoints around the island which were part of the NÀDAIR Project and whose locations can be found in ‘Mull and Iona, a wildlife and heritage guide’ Leaflet.
As part of the Ranger’s role we also help to manage the National Trust for Scotland properties on Mull and Iona, these include Staffa (NNR), Iona, Burg (SSSI) and MacQuarrie’s Mausoleum at Gruline on behalf of the National Trust for Australia.
