Do you live on the Argyll Islands and would like to discuss
planting native trees or managing an area of woodland? Adam
Dawson (Project Officer) is available to offer independent advice,
and may be able to make a free initial site survey to assist
with species selection to match your site and objectives. He
can also offer guidance as to which grant options may be the
most appropriate, and put you in contact with local contractors
or consultants.
The
project is exploring ways to secure jobs and income through
our local woodlands and is keen to develop the supply and use
of local timber. Woodlands inevitably take many years to develop
so the project is investigating maintaining farm incomes and
reducing costs by integrating farming and forestry through shelterbelts
and agroforestry.
The value of land is increased by improving its potential for
sporting opportunities, the capacity for deer stalking, game
bird shooting and fishing can all be enhanced through carefully
planned woodland creation and management.
Please feel free to contact Adam Dawson
to discuss your tree, timber and woodland ideas or questions,
and look out for workshops on specific topics advertised in
the local press.
