Community Generation
Community Generation is a project which stemmed directly from Community Powerdown. Funded by Community Energy Scotland CARES scheme and the Climate Challenge Fund there have been several stages so far.
Initial funding led to a review of available technologies,, hydro, wind, tidal and biomass. A study had already been conducted into a possible biomass digester and was eliminated from this study.
Community Consultation indicates that there is strong support for such a project and this has produced two current projects.
Garmony Hydro scheme – Allt Achadh na Moine
This is currently at design stage in preparation for a planning submission. Detail of the scheme can be found here and further Community Consultation will take place once the design is complete and before planning is applied for.
Wind turbine investigation
The possibility of a wind turbine was discussed at the last general consultation meeting. Two landowners have indicated willingness to participate in Community Generation and funding has been granted from the Climate Challenge Fund to further investigate the possibility.
The proposal is to implement a single medium size turbine, to reduce risk to the environment and visual impact.
Further Community Consultation will take place once further consultation and investigation has taken place. Watch this site for updates.
