MESS Funds are now closed. You are welcome to submit an application at any time but the next deadline is March 2018.

In celebration of our 20th Birthday, MESS are offering a brand new grant this September alongside our regular MESS Funds. We are offering a grant of £1000 for a recycling project based on Mull or Iona. We invite projects that find innovative solutions and fresh ideas to improve and encourage recycling in the community. Everyone is eligible to apply, this includes schools, community buildings, voluntary groups, individuals, businesses, community councils and charities. Your project must operate on a not for profit basis and should be open to everyone in the community to join in. Each application will be reviewed on an individual basis but there will only be one grant available. If you apply for the MESS Recycling Grant, your group will not be eligible to apply to regular MESS Funds in addition. We are happy to discuss all applications prior to submission for feedback about feasibility, by calling Laura Percy on 01680 812907 or emailing lpercy@mict.co.uk.

Here are some ideas for how your group could spend the grant:

A ‘recycling scarecrow’ trail competition or art exhibition
A plastic reduction roadshow
An innovative idea to reuse cooking oil
A recycling awareness campaign for tourists staying in local accommodation
Create a mural about recycling and ‘being green’ with leftover paint
Improving existing recycling facilities in your village with equipment and signage
Art classes using waste materials

The deadline for applications is Saturday 30th September.
