Funding

MICT is funded from a combination of grant and earned income. As a “Social Enterprise” we aim to achieve 50% or more as earned income – this is one of the criteria listed by Social Enterprise Scotland in their suggested definition of a Social Enterprise, click here for details.

Our earned income comes from a number of sources including:

  • self storage,
  • training and consultancy through our trading subsidiary “An Roth Trading Ltd”,
  • left luggage
  • vending machines (at Mull and Iona Community Hospital)
  • room rental and office services at An Roth and of course
  • the Island Castaways shops in Craignure, Bunessan and during the summer months in Aros Hall, Tobermory.

We currently have no grant income which is specifically for the general operation of the Community Trust but a number of grants for specific projects do include for an element of overhead recovery of the costs associated with supporting the project.
